Job Duties

Manage **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.’s safety and health programs.

Must be familiar with State (California, Washington) and Federal safety regulations.

Make necessary updates and additions in accordance with various state laws (CA, WA). These programs will relate to worker safety, property protection, motor vehicle safety, and general public and customer safety. This will require that the candidate obtain a working knowledge of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. operations and jobs, so that exposures may be identified and addressed.

Investigate all accidents and near misses. Develop actions to prevent recurrence.

Assist in the protection of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. property and other assets, including autos, contractors' equipment, and materials stored at our jobs and in our warehouses.

Assist in safety-related bidding issues. This will require that the candidate have the ability to estimate and budget hours necessary to implement and maintain safety systems at a job site.

Provide regular feedback to **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. management on activities and results related to incidents and their costs.

Teach and/or arrange for instruction in electrical industry and construction safety related topics. Oversee site safety meetings.

Must be able to communicate to a variety of groups, including union field electricians, foremen, project managers, upper management, insurance companies, general contractors, regulatory agencies, OSHA, and attorneys.

Maintain records in accordance with state and federal law. These records relate to injuries, auto accidents, and other safety-related issues. Records must be compiled neatly and concisely so as to facilitate the company-wide gathering of information relating to safety and health.

Recognize potential environmental problems and gather the necessary outside resources to address them, if and when necessary.

The candidate must be able to drive a vehicle on company business. This requires a va

lid California Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.

Extensive travel to local construction job sites. The candidate will also be required to travel to out-of-state jobs on short notice in the interest of employee or property protection.

Develop an activity plan for him- or herself, with activity and results based goals. The candidate must be able to track these activities and report them to management.

Job Requirements

Formal education may be combined with practical experience. However, at least three years field experience is required. The education and experience must be adequate to satisfactorily meet the essential functions of the job outlined above.

Hands-on safety and health experience in the construction industry mandatory, electrical sub preferred.

Knowledge of all applicable federal, state and local safety laws and regulations, including OSHA. Must have OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certificates, prefer CAL OSHA 30. Must be CPR & First Aid certified.

CSP, ARM, ALCM a plus. Other designations will be considered, based on their applicability to the job.

Must understand how to stay abreast of legal changes to safety and health code.

The candidate must speak and read well in English so as to facilitate the training required in the field related to safety and health. This will entail knowing what topics need to be presented and when. This will require close work with field foremen and project managers.

The employee must be physically able to negotiate the difficult conditions often encountered on job sites. This includes the occasional need to climb steep stairs, ride in scissor lifts and boom lifts, and work in hot and cold environments.

Excellent leadership, coordination, and organizational skills.

Ability to ascertain the “big picture from standard **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. processes and procedures.

Strong interpersonal communication, problem-resolution, and decision-making skills a must.

Ability to manage 3 direct reports.
