Job Description American Buildings-Midwest FUNCTIONAL JOB SUMMARY: Lead the estimating group by providing vision for success of the team. Ensure timely, accurate, and well qualified cost estimates and proposals. Promote continuous development of the team as well as direction, growth, and feedback. The day to day functions include: Assist the company sales and profit efforts by directing and supervising the overall activities of the Estimating Group. Maximize department effectiveness through mentoring, coaching and leading individuals to realize and leverage their full potential. Assisting in recruiting, interviewing, and training of teammates. Work with Design Estimators to create safe and economical project design solutions. Provide guidance on the impacts of structural decisions on the metal building price, erection concerns and total in-place cost of construction. Provide technical expertise both over the telephone as well as in face-to-face meetings with customers and District Sales Managers. Work with Design Estimators to screen quotes with unique scope requirements from the standpoint of business risk, product application and most economical solution. Best-mark with other Nucor divisions to continually improve our services, quality, products, and competitiveness. Develop and manage the annual department plans including, but not limited to, realistic staffing and overtime requirements, expenditures for supplies and equipment and wage increases for employees. Develop the members of the Estimating Group beyond the basic functions of estimating including, but not limited to, business acumen, people skills and the like. Develop and maintain a strong professional and personal working relationship with all teammates outside of the estimating group, especially those in sales. Job Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of metal building industry experience coupled with a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited University with an emphasis in Structural Engineering or a minimum of (4) years\u2019 experience in design, detailing, estimating, or sales of metal building systems. Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. SELECTION CRITERIA: Proven commitment to safety in all job aspects Recognized ability to lead others. Demonstrated business acumen and an understanding of how a building systems company makes money is a must. Effective verbal, written and graphical communication skills for both internal and external interaction as well as for project management are essential. With a proven ability to conceptualize, implement and follow through on ideas for greater department efficiency and accuracy is. The successful individual must be a strong planner and able to execute plans to achieve the desired results.
