Overview
ENERGY SYSTEMS GROUP® is looking for a Senior Estimator to join our Federal Business Unit. This position will be remote with approximately 25% travel including overnight stays.
The Senior Estimator is a leader who will be responsible for all of aspects of federal procurement for general construction, design-assist construction, and full design-build construction. The Senior Estimator is responsible for all aspects of pre-construction activities, including developing internal and external cost estimates, coordinating with design partners when required, and producing successful final price proposals for review by the ESG leadership team. The Senior Estimator must be able to define the work scope, assign it to contract partners, and then reassemble the data into the appropriate proposal format. The Senior Estimator will be responsible for individual requirements as well as oversee the efforts of other estimating team members.
Responsibilities
To be successful in this role you:
Preparing and communicating preliminary and final budget estimates, design cost estimates, design-development cost estimates, and guaranteed maximum price (GMP) proposals, inclusive of value engineering
Managing relationships with designers, sub-contractors, vendors, and suppliers to organize pre-construction efforts for each project
Attending on-site pre-bid/proposal conferences and site visits as required
Negotiating and reviewing bids from sub-contractors, reviewing scopes of work, and analyzing costs as bids are received
Developing and reviewing subcontractor scopes of work and accepting, reviewing, and analyzing subcontractor quotes for best value
Overseeing the pre-construction phase and producing budget estimates from the pre-concept design stage to the construction document stage
Developing and overseeing project schedules and workload priorities with pre-construction staff and organizing estimating schedules
Supporting ESG Operations Group with preparing and pricing change orders on awarded work on an as-needed basis
Qualifications
Your background includes:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a minimum of five (5) years of engineering and construction-related experience producing effective construction estimates or 10 years of related experience developing and managing construction estimates
Experience managing an estimating department or team for at least 3 years
Experience in federal and Department of Defense projects, required
Demonstrated working knowledge of OSHA, Federal, and State Safety regulations
Demonstrated ability to manage estimates from development to project closure
Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets and project schedules, properly document projects, and work well with customers and the ESG team to achieve customer satisfaction on every job
Superb attention to detail skills
Strong capabilities to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and with minimal structure while exercising great judgment
Maintain an advanced ability to read, understand and organize construction plans and specifications
Create and maintain an efficient, effective project workforce, providing training and supervision for each member assigned to the project and coordinating team member activities to meet project objectives
